Product Description

FREE iPad connector with the Mini Gorilla extra battery for a limited time.

The Mini Gorilla battery is the Power Gorilla's baby brother, designed to provide you with an extra battery for your electronic gadgets – such as e-readers, camcorders, MP3 players, laptops, netbooks, mobile phones and many more electronic products that require a 19v DC input or less. It also protects these devices against damage that can be incurred when plugging them into a plug socket with a voltage that isn’t suited to them – something that’s quite common when travelling overseas.

Featuring a range of voltage settings (8.4v, 9.5v, 10.5v, 12v & 19v), the minigorilla also has a 5v USB output, meaning you can also rechage your mobile, iPod, iPhone, PDA, PSP and more.  Incoporating the latest HDLP (High Density Lithium Polymer) battery technology, the minigorilla has maximum power efficiency to size and weight.

The minigorilla has a laser-etched rubber coating, meaning it's tough and durable.  Supplied with a universal AC travel charger that works in over 150 countries around the world, a neoprene carry case and a whole host of monkeynuts (tips) which allow connectivity to the most popular of electronic products.  The case has net pockets on the inside that can be used to carry any necessary cable adaptors.

The Mini Gorilla comes with around 20 adaptors and converters, so you can plug it into just about any common electronic device – including LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia mobile phones. It can also be used to plug into and provide a back up battery source for portable games consoles such as the Nintendo Lite, the Sony PSP and the Sony PSP Go.

You can charge iPods, except those with Firewire connections, as well as some digital cameras, camcorders and portable DVD players.

The Mini Gorilla can be used to charge Apple Mac laptops and netbooks, though you’ll need to by a separate MagSafe airline adaptor available from the Apple website.

Using the Mini Gorilla while travelling

The Mini Gorilla also comes with four mains adaptors:

  • Type G - the commonly recognised three-pin variety used in the UK and Ireland. This type of adaptor is also used in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Malta and Cyprus.
  • Type I - the ungrounded two V-shaped prong adaptor used in Australia, NZ, Argentina and some other countries.
  • Type A - the two flat, parallel-pinned adaptor used in North and Central America and Japan.
  • Type C - the plug with two rounded prongs that’s used all over Europe except where the type G plug is used.

While many electronic devices will work in countries that operate on voltages different from the Australia 240, they rarely work to their full potential and can be irrevocably damaged if used for prolonged periods. The Mini Gorilla can take charge from a number of mains outputs, and can then be set to the voltage best suited to your portable device, which protects it from damage.

The Mini Gorilla also features voltage and current limitation and a short-circuiting function, and will cut out when over-heated or over-charged.

If the USB and DC output ports are empty, minigorilla will automatically shut off after 2 minutes and if devices attached via USB and DC output port are fully charged, minigorilla will also shut off. The minigorilla has a long storage life, if it hasn't been used for a year, the battery capacity lost is less than 10%.

minigorilla features an LCD screen which indicates battery capacity status and level of charge left in minigorilla, and the blue backlight will automatically turn off after 5 seconds to save power.

Mini Gorilla charging time

The minigorilla will give up to 5-6 hours on a Sony Vaio P-series netbook at 10.5 volt setting.  minigorilla will give up to 2 hours on other netbooks set at 19 volts.  However, the minigorilla may discharge its power in 30 minutes as it's recharging the internal battery of the netbook. The combined recharge of the internal battery and the power used during initial connection gives up to an additional 2 hours of extra power.

The minigorilla can be recharged via the included mains charger or via the solargorilla solar charger (sold separately)  The solargorilla will fully recharge the minigorilla within 6-9 hours and minigorilla can be recharged via its included mains adaptor in 5.5 hours.

The screen on the front of the Mini Gorilla clearly lets you see how much power it has left.
