Just to note that if your tablet requires 12V for charging, the extreme will not work. All ‘monkey’ products output a max of 5Volts. If you require anything above that – you will need something from the Gorilla range of products.

People love their mobile devices. We have managed to integrate them into our lives so well that we feel lost without them. Battery charging has improved, but we have tethered ourselves to a 240-volt electrical cord to keep them charged. This was easy until we venture out where there is no electricity, or when our power fails. Campers, rescue workers, or boaters who are away from reliable power now have a new solution to keeping 5-volt mobile devices charged. There have been a number of portable solar chargers on the market, but none of them compare to the features that have been incorporated in a Powermonkey. The Powermonkey eXtreme has two output channels for charging your devices. The first port is a 700 mAh maximum port, which is a standard USB port. The second port is a DC port that outputs 2.1 amps maximum to support an Apple iPad and other tablet computers. By the way, an iPad compatible cable is included with the Powermonkey unit. Being able power itself, while simultaneously charging a mobile device, is a handy feature. The Powermonkey charges devices with a 9000 mAh capacity Lithium Polymer battery.

The Powermonkey is powered by a three-way charging system: the universal main charger, USB or the included portable solar panel. The 3-watt maximum solar panel has the capability of completely charging the Powermonkey in 15 hours when placed in optimal lighting situations. The Powermonkey has a solar energy detection feature that is automatically activated to provide higher efficiency in low light conditions.

Users find it easy to monitor a Powermonkey eXtreme with the LCD screen. The LCD is red when the unit is recharging. When the unit is in use, it will turn blue; and when it is charged, it will turn green. The LCD screen also shows the battery capacity level. The Powermonkey has a specialized ON/OFF control where a device cannot be accidently switched on when not in use. The Powermonkey does not have to be monitored while it is charging a mobile device. It will turn itself off when the mobile device is completely charged. The Powermonkey, including its portable solar charger, is waterproof for 30-minutes to 1-meter underwater. This makes the Powermonkey Extreme especially useful for the outdoors in less than ideal conditions. However you decide to travel solar power is now the only power you will need to keep your favourite devices charged.

The Polysilicon solar panel offers photovoltaic efficiency up to 17% and features a USB output, fully supporting Apple iPhone/iPod, mobile phones and other 5V gadgets such as portable games consoles, handheld GPS systems, etc. The solar panel can fully charge the powermonkey-eXtreme in approx 15 hours.

The powermonkey-eXtreme unit weighs 250g and measures 145 x 59.5 x 28mm, whilst the solar panel weighs 210g, measures 171 x 96 mm and is 18mm deep when folded. The unit has a very low static wastage (meaning you can leave it for up to 1 year and it will still hold 75% of its charge) and includes a whole host of safety features to give you total peace of mind.

To Operate:
• Slide finger across friction swipe control from left to right to turn ON
• Slide finger across friction swipe control from right to left to turn OFF
• Whilst the unit is ON, double tap the friction swipe to activate permanent ON feature
• Cancel permanent ON feature by tapping the friction swipe once more
• Touch the friction swipe during operation to view battery capacity. LCD screen will switch off after 5 seconds - saving power
