Pedalite Baglite
A unique and innovative solar-powered, eco-friendly lighting product worn over the shoulders and fitting over any backpack or bag to keep cyclists safe on the roads and protect commuters and children as they walk to and from school.

Slotting over any size existing bag or rucksack, Baglite provides super-bright lighting that clearly illuminates people and their bags with no need for batteries. Using a new unique 360 degree floodlight module there is a single red floodlight at the back and two white floodlights at the front attached to straps that fit to the straps of a backpack. The lights shine out from every angle so people wearing Baglite will be seen clearly by motorists any time day or night from a distance of 1km. The lights can be turned on and off and set to different modes – flashing, constant or off. There is also an optional tabard (lite harness) to secure the Baglite to for use without a backpack
Baglite has lenses that send light out through 360 degrees. Cover the front of the lens and you will see the large amount of light that comes out of the sides, top and bottom. There are V shaped grooves in the lens to ensure that the light to the side is as bright as the light through the front of the lens.
Baglite is designed to be on in light, shadow and darkness AND as a result of the unique “Floodlight” module actually appear brighter the further away you get! When you have the product on when it is daylight it actually recharges from the light while it is operated.
The Baglite is great value.... First of all, cyclists spend on average $12 on batteries for lights every 3 months, meaning that a battery free product like Baglite would pay for its self inside a season ! and then carry on saving the user money through the elimination of batteries. When you buy a battery operated light, you usually have to buy the batteries for it. Add that to the price for the light you are buying to get the REAL price for comparison.
Baglite is incredibly versatile, it is used by cyclists, school kids, walkers, hikers, horseriders, etc etc
It is a unique product, fits to any backpack and provides active safety for about the same price as florescent backpack covers (passive safety).
As the mornings and evenings draw in, Baglite is particularly useful for schoolchildren walking to school (it has been called " "uber-cool"), commuters walking to the station or to work and its durability even allows for hikers to stay illuminated without worrying about batteries running out or finding an electricity charging point.
Baglite is an eco-friendly product, that charges both in direct sunlight and in artificial light – at the office or school or just popped on the windowsill for a few hours at home. It provides over six hours of flashing light from a full charge and provides super bright lights to create strong visibility to road users. The saving on batteries alone means that Baglite enjoys a cost payback as well as helping save the environment.
The lightweight lights are weather and impact resistant. Simple to fit and so comfortable to wear that you don’t know you have them on, they are maintenance free and ensure that commuters and school children are visible and that cyclists can ride secure in the confidence that they, and not just their bikes, are clearly visible at all times.
Baglite’s battery free ‘green’ credentials will appeal to those of us who are environmentally conscious and even Pedalite’s packing avoids using unnecessary plastic as it is completely made from recycled cardboard.
Key features of the Baglite are:
Charging Indicator
On the master light unit, which is the light unit on the left at the front that also has the controls, a small red LED illuminates when the unit is charging. a bright sunny Summer’s day in direct sunlight you will get one hour of light out for one hour of light in to the Baglite product. Therefore 6 to 7 hours would fully charge that unit. As the quality of light goes down then the charge time goes up and if you do not “fill” the charge cell then the time it will run for goes down.
Baglite has 6+ hours flashing light at full charge and therefore is not usually fully discharged. In normal operation Baglite will be used for a couple of hours, turned then off and then it re-charges to full capacity.
Use
Simply push the mode switch once to turn on, push again to start flash mode and push again to turn off.
It is that simple. It is a push switch so you can use it when you are wearing gloves or your hands are
"Charge-On" Switch
Just set the "Charge-On" switch to "On" and leave it there for normal operation. It is an intentionally small switch so that you do not knock it or accidently change the setting when using Baglite.
The unit will charge with the "Charge-On" in either the "Charge" or the "On" position.
Please note that when the "Charge-On" switch is in the "Charge" position the Baglite will not turn on.
What if the Baglite is fully discharged ?
There are several ways that a Baglite can be fully discharged. The most obvious is just turning it on and leaving it on, eventually it will become fully discharged. Physics graduates will be able to describe some other rare events that can achieve a discharge of the stored power. One of the most obscure ways that Baglites can be discharged is that customs will turn some of the units on, as they enter a country, to check that they are what they say they are. It is also true that capacitors loose their power very slowly over time and we have been told of lightening strikes on containers when the products are shipped by sea (this is why, although we always charge the units before delivery we can never guarantee that they are fully charged when they are purchased).
When a Baglite has been fully discharged it is possible that the charging indicator will not even light up. If you suspect that a unit is fully discharged then first switch the on-charge switch to the charge position (this will disable all functions except the charging mode).
The electronics in a Baglite need a tiny amount of power to manage the storing of power (it is a real challenge that you need power to collect power). In the unusual condition of a full discharge a Baglite needs a BOOST of light energy to get the recharging process started again. This is the ONLY time when we recommend that a Baglite HAS to be recharged in natural sunlight. In the event of a full discharge, please place the Baglite in direct sunlight (outside not through a window), don't worry if it is a grey winter day, you would be amazed how much light filters through clouds.
Leave the Baglite in the direct sunlight for several hours and then check that a charge has been accepted by switching the Charge-On switch back to on and putting the unit into flash mode. The lights should flash and the unit should be back to normal. We recommend that from a full-discharge position you charge your Baglite in sunlight for at least 12 hours (although it should not need this long this will definitely bring it back to the correct charged state).
